Spring Glow Up

Stepping into spring (finally) and I can't wait for some sunshine. Clearing the house out and touching up house jobs ready for summer. So we clear out the old and bring in the new, change it up, revamp items, but what about spring cleaning your skincare?

Spring is one of the best times to have a great clear-out of your skincare & makeup – and start a healthy fresh regime. Clear away the dull remnants of winter, prepare your skin and reveal its natural glow for the warmer months ahead.

Here are our Do's and Dont's for Springtime

Don’t…

Don’t use cleansing wipes: As the great Caroline Hirons advises there is only one place for wipes and thats festivals and f*@!%s. Great when you are in a hurry, but they struggle to do a proper job and can leave traces of dirt all over the skin. Invest in a good cleanser and take the time to remove the days dirt.

Stop scrubbing your face to "Get the glow". We all know exfoliating is the best way to slough off our wintered over skin and unearth the brighter, fresher complexion that lies beneath. HOWEVER, this does not mean take the top layers of your skin off. If your skincare at home is good, clinic treatments every 6 weeks (depending on skin condition of course) to gently speed up the cell turn over is perfect and will not causes any trauma to this skin. This is a big NO NO for clients who suffer with Acne and conditions such as rosacea, dermatitis etc.

Do…

Do check best-before dates: Most skincare keeps well beyond its shelf-life if stored in optimal conditions, but any product (that’s any good) loses its powers eventually.

Do drink enough water – and sleep well: As the weather gets warmer and nights get lighter, help your skin with sufficient hydration and rest.

SPF is a MUST !!!! Dermatologists tend to agree that the most important thing you can do for your skin is slather on SPF—and that’s not just during summer. A daily SPF routine not only protects your skin from certain cancers, but can also delay ageing. And even if you are not spending tons of time outside, incidental exposure such as driving or sitting in an office with big windows can ravage bare skin. Essentially you should wear SPF all year round, but many people don’t think of wearing it until the temperatures start to rise.

Swap it up- It may be time to swap over moisturiser. Winter time for many tends to mean a heavier moisturiser but come summer months it is to thick. If you are not sure what your skin needs speak to your skincare specialist directly and they prescribe a new bespoke treatment plan.
